Another Door Opens!! {Rusted Roots VERY FIRST shop!}

When I wrote last week, ‘When One Camper Door Closes…‘, I had no idea I would be writing this just seven days later!! My, how a week can change your life!! And when I say change your life… I mean I feel lucky, excited, anxious, and scared all at the same time!!

Dream Big!! #RustedRoots

You see those bricks?? Yup… the ones in that cute little graphic?? (How true is that quote, by the way?!) Holy shenanigans…. if that’s not the front of my very first shop!! I can’t believe I am making this announcement! But I had a tremendous opportunity present itself and Rusted Roots will be opening its very own shop in Hillsborough, NC!!

Opening a New Shop #RustedRoots

Much like the vintage camper, I have been shopping for a place to open my own shop for quite some time. But there were a lot of things I needed the space to have! I wanted a space that had an old world feel. Something with a country vibe but not out in the middle of nowhere. I wanted it to have easy access to the interstate, but not be in a strip mall. I know, I thought it was impossible until I found this place!! It’s located just off of I-85 in the Daniel Boone Village. It’s a quaint pioneer-style village that has nearly 30 antique shops and a blacksmith shop too, so I’m in good company!!

Rusted Roots Antiques Shop #RustedRoots

The Daniel Boone Village has been around for yeeeeears!! Which is what gives my building the charming chippy wood on the top and the aged columns too. I love that the Y-shaped posts give it that old country store feel. And that front porch… ahhh… you know there will be some rocking chairs out there at some point!

Country Store Old Porch #RustedRoots

You may have noticed the beautiful large windows, something else that I had really hoped to have! I have always been a sucker for a good window display. Rusted Roots has two HUGE windows for me to dress up!! This one is my fave!! I love the shape of it and the little ledge inside!

And if the building weren’t perfect enough… something else that I reaaally wanted, was some land! A space where we could hold monthly markets and give all of our vintage-lovin’ friends a place to sell their wares! Do you see all that green grass?? It’s begging for some pop-up tents and vintage campers right?? And that’s only half of it!!

Monthly Antiques Market #RustedRoots

We’ve got plenty of room for everyday parking!! And even more space for a couple food trucks at our markets!!

Antiques Junk Show #RustedRoots

This space truly is a dream come true! I couldn’t have asked for anything more!! So, when can you come shop?? Ummm. I’m not sure. I have a BIG vision for this place and lots that I want to do to get her set up!! I invite you to follow along on Instagram and Facebook, where I will be sharing pics everyday about our progress!!

We will still be at the Raleigh Flea Market September 20-21!! So come see us there!!

New Antiques Shop #RustedRoots

This shop truly is a dream come true!! And has been about a year and a half in the making!! We will be getting the keys tomorrow and will start work on the shop immediately!! There’s a wall to take down… walls to paint… old wood to put up… and of course, some RUST!! It’s a BIG STEP! Exciting and scary! I’ve been up to my neck in permits, and tax documents, and insurance, and contracts. But it’s what I’ve dreamed of… and finally it’s happening!! I honestly can’t beleive it!!

It’s just proof that indeed ‘When one door closes, another opens!’. You just have to go after it and NEVER GIVE UP!!

  19. Oh my gosh, I am SO excited for you- and ME! I live in Hillsborough, not even ten minutes from your future shop! I am SO EXCITED about your plans!!! The shops in that center have been so disappointing lately- “antique shops” with really high prices for estate sale leftovers, mostly. The idea of an awesome place like Rusted Roots, and vintage markets in the parking lot, and food trucks… I’M SO EXCITED!!!!

    • Woot woot!!! Hillsborough rocks!! So happy to hear you are just around the corner, Kimberly!! We are really hoping to liven up the Daniel Boone Village with some fresh ideas and, of course, lots of RUST!!! Ha ha!! And I think the market will definitely bring lots of new people and all their vintage goodies to the area too!! So start saving your pennies now!! We are so excited about it!! Can’t wait to meet you!!
