Pallet & Barn Wood Walls are Up!!

Can you believe I covered every single wall of the shop for FREE!!! I didn’t spend one penny on any of my walls!! Now. If time were money, I spent thousands!! But in cold hard cash, not a dime! Here’s how I did it….

I started by scoping out the five places I find free wood. And hit the jackpot at a local power equipment store. Remember this stash..

The hubs and I made several trips with as many pallets as we could squeeze in the truck. We spent the next few days deconstructing them and de-nailing them. That’s the hard part!! Whew! But once we had it all stacked neat and pretty, we took it to the shop and had at it! Starting at the top, we selected pieces of pallet wood that were the same width and worked our way across the wall. Nothing beats all the different shades of wood. Such a beautiful natural patina!!

We didn’t try to make it perfect. The oddities make it all the more beautiful. And you see the thermostat? We just cut a square around it. Who’s got time to cut a perfect circle. Not us!! It works. And once we get all of our rusty junk in the shop, you won’t even notice it! Perfectly imperfect!!

Even at a distance, the colors are fantastic!! But, whew, those white walls!!

Y’all remember me telling you about the tin walls we built?Β Doesn’t it look perfect beside that old pallet wood?

I can’t get over how it’s all coming together!! And while that pallet wood is gorgeous, it is sooooo tedious tearing all those pallets apart. So, I was over the moon when we landed a ton of free barn wood! And get this… it was already de-nailed! Wooohoo!!!

We used this wood on some of the other walls…. and the half tin wall as well!! I love the little ledge that Dad and I built out of some of that barn wood. It will be great for leaning signs and other goodies!

All in all…. I am so excited about how the shop is coming together! I aint gonna lie… I am starting to panic a bit about getting everything done in time. But I’ve called in some special peeps to help on a few things, and we are full speed ahead to November 1st!! We will see you then!!!

Until next time, let us remember..

  1. […] Reusing old barn wood and rusty tin roof metal for interior walls is ‘the thing’ right now. And since I cannot do it myself where I’m at, I get my ‘fix’ from Candace over at Rusted Roots. […]
