Every month we work on creating some junktastic pieces for Rusted Roots junk sales! At our BIG Spring Junk Market we wiped out of a lot of our creations. I think we may have a couple of our gas pump coat racks left, and a few water spigot flower vases too! But the upcycled book hooks flew out the door first thing!! I think one junker bought them all!! We’ll have to make some more!!
So, we’ve been brainstorming some new ideas for upcoming shows!! And were stoked when we found this load of junk last week!
I know y’all loved the rusty ‘ol horse when we shared her on Facebook… so let’s go ahead and give her her two seconds of fame…
Okay. She’s happy now. And we can talk about the topic at hand… upcycled wooden boxes. I was stoked to find all of these old boxes. We use them all the time in our house. They are perfect for faux plants and flowers. Even for organizing remote controls or mail!
You’d be surprised what a simple handle will add to a box. Snag a couple old wood scraps, dowels, really whatever you have on hand and nail it to the side of an old cheese box or even a handmade box, for that matter. It’s really so easy!! I mean, who’d a thunk?? A coat hanger handle…
If the box seems a little boring, nail some old junk to it!! Old horseshoes! (We’ve got a whole slew of ’em at the shop!) Or rusty gears, bolts, license plates, anything!! We snagged this rusty ‘ol county plate and nailed it to the front of one!! Just watch that ‘lil price tag dance!!
I tell ya… I am lovin’ all these boxes and I supect they will all find new homes at Rusted Roots upcoming junk sale, April 24-26!! Want to remember or share these ideas with your junk buddies?? Here’s a handy pic to pin or share!! Let’s keep that junk out of the landfill and create something useful along the way!!
