My New Baby… a 1949 Chevy Truck Counter!!

This whole process of opening a junk shop has been a lot like having a baby!! Bill and I never sleep! I mean NEVER!! We barely take time to eat. We are up in the middle of the night… like that one time we made a barn wood run at 3am!! Ha ha!! No dirty diapers… but we have swept the floors in that shop at least 74 times and still there is dirt!! We feel like we gotta raise this shop right! Give her a good foundation for a long and healthy life!! And today, I have to share one of my favorite things about the shop…. our counter!!!

You see, we had this space… oh, right about here…

that we had prepped for the arrival of our new baby!! Bags in place (see how we made them here) and an upcycled funnel light, because let’s be honest, no baby likes the pitch black! She had to have a night light. <wink> And then exactly on her due date , she arrived! The delivery was painless really. No epidural needed. She came right out of the truck. Mama always said that’s how trucks were born.

She was a big baby!! 300 pounds. 8 ounces. A little over six feet long. We didn’t have a name picked out because we waited to find out if she was a boy or a girl. But now that she is here… she is definitely a girl!! I guess I’ll have to flip through a baby names book to find one that’s fitting!

It wasn’t your typical delivery. No C-section. But 3-sections. And it’d a good thing because she wouldn’t fit through the door any other way!!

The doctors (errrr… builders) swept her right away to get her all cleaned up and in one piece. I couldn’t wait to give her a big ‘ol hug!

Once they got a top on her, I was able to welcome her to her new home!!

But just like any newborn, I had to make the announcement of her arrival and then you will be overloaded with baby photos in the coming days!! Ha ha!!!

Happy Birthday, Rusted Roots Counter!! (We will name her one of these days!!)

Until next time, let us remember..
