It’s taken eight days, but we have finally caught our breath after Rusted Roots Fall Junk Market last weekend! And boy are we THANKFUL for all of YOU!!!
I tell ya, planning a market is honestly like planning a wedding!! (But you only have three months!!) Book the food trucks, schedule the live music, get the ponies and petting zoo in place. Build the admission booth, put up the pallet fence, and the iron bed frame fence too! And potties! We need potties!! Organize vendors, measure the field, oh! And you have a shop to get ready too! As always, I couldn’t do it without an the supportive backbone of my family and a couple of very generous friends!
Our most exciting addition to the Junk Market this go ’round was ‘Derby’… making her debut as our admission booth!! I knew when we rescued her last month exactly where she would stand!! She fit in perfectly!!
And it wasn’t long before the gates opened and the people flooded in…
That first hour was a blur!! It was nutso!! All those early pickers meant business with their wagons and totes, they were in and out, in and out, I couldn’t keep track of all the junk being loaded in people’s cars and trucks! It was so rewarding to stand back and see all of our hard work come to fruition!!
The smell of freshly popped kettlecorn and country music filled the air. Proof that Fall was upon us was around every corner.
The first hour flew by faster than I could blink and then it was time to open the Rusted Roots shop!!
My brother and I manned the register and braced for impact!! Ha ha!! My buddy, Danielle, prepared to start stacks, bag items, and keep the line at bay. I tell ya, the first hour in the shop is just as nutso at the first hour of the market!! That’s why we decided to pace ourselves. And open the shop an hour after the market!!
And in the people came…
I’m surprised we end up with as many pictures as we do, considering all the chaos! That’s where the hubs steps in! He’s good at capturing everything that I miss when I’m running around. It’s fun for me to look at all of his pictures after the fact!!
Sunday was a little more laid back. Easy like Sunday mornin’… and my buddy Beth from Olde Tyme Marketplace came to help out at the admission booth which made the day all the more brighter!!
More families came out on Sunday which was great for all of our furry friends!! The petting zoo was a big hit and the pony rides too!! The kiddos were in heaven!!
I managed to slow down Sunday morning and snag a few things for myself. A sweet vintage laundry cart on wheels, a couple of beautiful black shutters, some old spools that will hold all of my gypsy headbands, and this crazy fun upcycled water spigot denim cuff!!!
Folk artist, Sam Ezell painted these old guitars for us to use in the shop! Aren’t they so quirky and fun?!
And he wasn’t the only artist there… from string art to bottle art, there was so much to see!
Even a couple of sister vintage campers!! It doesn’t get sweeter than this!!
We were so blessed to have people come from several states away including Bill’s family who surprised us with a visit all the way from Florida!!
It was another weekend we will NEVER forget! We are blessed beyond all our wildest expectations and have YOU to thank!! To the vendors, the food trucks, the bands, Shaky Tail Farm, our volunteers and our workers, friends, family, and of course, you the shoppers… because without you, there would be no Rusted Roots!! THANK YOU!
