Does it feel like we just had a sale at Rusted Roots??! We did!! Our monthly sales are usually about four weeks apart, but this go ’round we only had two weeks to get ready!! TWO WEEKS! I don’t know that we’ve ever flipped the shop so fast.
Lucky for us, we had a sweet pick planned for the Sunday after our last show. They say Virginia is for lovers. I’m convinced that’s lovers of dirt roads and old barn finds! We had a great time…
The farm we picked was full of feathers!! When I say feathers, I mean chickens, ducks, guineafowl (guineafowl or guinea fowl??), even peacocks!! Birds everywhere!!! And if y’all know anything about me, it’s that I’m not a big bird fan. Not the big yellow fella from Sesame Street, but birds in general. They just kinda freak me out a little. I don’t like the idea of them flapping their wings around me. It’s from an incident that happened when I was a child, but that’s a story for another day!
Anywhoooo, despite my lack of love for the feathered friends, I absolutley fell in love with this baby… just one day old.
A baby duck!!!!
Likely, because he was fuzzy!! I love a fuzzy baby farm animal!! Sadly, Mama duck passed away. But because this farmer has so many birds, he knew exactly what to do with the eggs to make sure they lived happy healthy lives. That little baby must have weighed about as much as a paper clip!!
Oh, but about the barn finds! That’s what this is about right?? Here’s a peak at the haul we loaded up for the shop this month!! (Minus all those rusty graters. We’ve got plans for those!! Y’all are gonna love it!)
Once all the goodies are cleaned and priced, then it’s time to get her all set up at the shop!! For that, we did a little video tour!
Fun, right?? I love all the handmade that we have this month! Those ‘ol silo scoop catch-alls, the pie pan wreaths, the meat grinder succulent planters, those antique ladle planters! And to think all those succulents are faux!! My favorite kind of greenery!! No watering needed!! Here’s a closer look at some of the goodies you may have missed, straight from Facebook and Instagram!
And in case you didn’t catch it in the video, we wanted to tell you about a very special campaign we are kicking off at this month’s sale, our Bring Maya Home Campaign. We are honored to support a local Hillsborough family in their adoption journey. You can read more of their story here and meet sweet Maya! Plus… see what we’ll be raffling off to help raise money for the family!
We’ve got a lot going on this month at Rusted Roots and we can’t wait to see you there!! As always, we’ll have tasty treats for you as you shop!! This month, it’s a POPCORN stand!!! I’m so excited to get it all set up!! And we’ll see y’all when the doors open Friday morning at 10am!!
