  1. I looove those baskets! Happy Tuesday ♥

  2. Hi! I found this one online and it’s from the 70’s/80’s. I’m guessing the new recipe has more flour in it to make them fluffy…less flour equals less fluff, lol….try it and let me know if it works!
    OLD FASHIONED QUAKER OATS FAMOUS
    OATMEAL COOKIES
    3/4 c. shortening, soft
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg
    1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    3 c. oats, uncooked

Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla together until creamy. Stir together flour, salt and soda; add to creamed mixture, blend well. Stir in oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350 degrees) for 12 to 15 minutes.

(For variety, add chopped nutmeats, raisins, chocolate chips or coconut.) Makes 5 dozen.

    • Thank you so much, Colleen!! I’ll have to check but if memory serves me right, this is the exact recipe I used on round one! Ha ha!! I have tinkered with it and tried other recipes too and I found one that I love!!!! The cookies are thin and chewy… crisy around the edge! Pure perfection! Thanks so much for sharing!! 🙂

  3. I just found your blog and therefore your shop tonight. I LOVE it! I have had two stores very similar in Conyers, GA. throughout the years, and I too love the business! Hard work and all, I so hope you get your old truck and your camper, I am looking for them both too, along with the farm! I wish I was a few years younger so I could realize my dream as you are, but I am going to continue to follow you so I can live your dream with you! Good luck, and I hope all goes well with your new home and plans. I don’t live far away, if you ever need help. I also sew and paint and do a lot of hand crafts, if you ever have a need to purchase special items, that you can’t locate, I would love to help you out. I am coming to visit very soon, as soon as you get the Christmas stuff set up. Best wishes, Sassy “MiMi” Sandy Sue.

    • It’s so nice to meet you, Sandy!! So glad you found us over here in our little corner of the world! Sounds like we are kindred spirit with many of the same passions. It’s fun finding people like that!! I sure hope you can make it out to the shop sometime for a visit!!! Have a wonderful week and keep in touch, ya hear?! 🙂
