Where do I begin? No really! We just wrapped up our annual trek down Highway 127 for the World’s Longest Yard Sale!! It’s 690 miles of rusty, crusty, funky old junk stretching all the way from Michigan to Alabama!! I’ll share our route with you later… we did three states in four days! But for now, I just have to show you all the junk we stuffed in our van!! I. Am. Stoked!
I tried my darndest to fit all of our junk finds in one pictures… but it just wouldn’t fit!! Where’s my wide angle lens when I need it!!?? So, we split it into two big ‘ol piles in the backyard so we could show you what you didn’t see on Facebook and Instagram!!
Speaking of social media, a BIG ‘ol rusty hug to all of you that came along on the adventure with us!! We made so many new friends on the trip, both online and in person!! It was so fun meeting long time followers who live a few states away!!
So what are we going to do with all that junk?? All that junk inside our trunk?? Ha ha!! Well, we start by cleanin’ what needs cleanin’! Then we sort everything into four piles. First pile up… junk that needs work! Like this sweet bowling pin lamp that will need rewiring…
We can’t really sell it as is… I mean we could, but it’d be better if it worked, right!?! So, off to the workshop she goes!! Scalpel??
Pile number two also goes to the workshop. That pile is for junk that we will use for future projects. Like all these license plates…
We’ve got a number of upcycle projects in mind for all those tags! Or these wheels… we made some junktastic wreaths last year with some old wheels. I plan to do the same with these!!
And yard sticks… oooooh, yard sticks! These will go in the project pile too!! We should have most of these projects finished up in time for our Fall Junk Market, September 19-20!!
So, that’s pile one and two… pile three is the ‘tag it and sell it’ pile! Some things are ready to go as is… like the green ice cream bucket, the red gas can, the vintage thermoses, the tall wooden stool, you get the idea!! (The tractor steering wheel is for a special project!! <wink>)
And the last pile, is, well, the keep pile!! Things that I just can’t part with right now. It doesn’t mean they won’t be for sale in the future, but for now the roots are too deep, the story to strong, I just can’t part with some things. Like this old Aspirin display rack. I can’t wait to share the story of this piece. It’s too long to tell here.
And something about this rusty blue feed scoop says, ‘don’t tag me. don’t take me to the workshop. I wanna go home with you!’ How can you turn that down??
<five minutes later>
Here you go!!!! Click here to see the second haul!!!
